Correction and Retraction Policy
Clean Energy and Smart Technology (CEST) is committed to maintaining an accurate and reliable scholarly record. Errors or concerns identified after publication will be assessed fairly and addressed through corrections, expressions of concern, or retractions, as appropriate.
1. Corrections
A correction may be published when an error affects part of an article but does not invalidate its main findings or conclusions. Examples include errors in calculations, tables, figures, author details, acknowledgements, or other information requiring clarification.
Authors should promptly notify the editorial office upon discovering an error. The request must identify the article, explain the error, provide the corrected information, and describe its effect on the findings.
Significant corrections will be published as separate notices linked to the original article. Changes to the published article will be clearly identified. Authorship changes require an explanation and written agreement from all affected authors, with institutional involvement where necessary.
2. Retractions
The journal may retract an article when there is clear evidence that its findings cannot be relied upon or that serious publication ethics violations have occurred. Grounds may include:
-
Major errors that invalidate the findings or conclusions.
-
Fabrication or falsification of data, results, or images.
-
Plagiarism or unjustified duplicate publication.
-
Unethical research or unauthorized use of data or materials.
-
Manipulation of the peer review or publication process.
-
Undisclosed competing interests that substantially affect the interpretation of the work.
Retraction serves to correct the scholarly record and does not, by itself, establish that misconduct has occurred. Honest errors may also justify retraction.
3. Assessment and Decision
Concerns may be raised by authors, readers, reviewers, institutions, or editors. The editorial office will assess the available evidence and give the authors an opportunity to respond. Supporting data, explanations, or institutional investigation findings may be requested.
The Editor-in-Chief makes the final decision based on the evidence and relevant publication ethics guidance. A retraction may proceed without the authors’ agreement when justified. An author’s request or payment alone does not establish grounds for retraction.
4. Retraction Notices and Article Availability
A retraction notice will identify the article, explain the reasons for retraction, and state who is retracting it. The notice will be factual, freely accessible, and linked to the original article.
The original article will normally remain available to preserve the publication record, with its retracted status clearly marked. Removal of article content will be considered only in exceptional circumstances, such as serious privacy, legal, or safety concerns; an explanatory notice will remain available.
5. Expression of Concern
An expression of concern may be published when credible questions about an article remain unresolved or an investigation requires substantial time. The notice will be updated when sufficient evidence supports a final decision.
6. Retraction Administration Fee
An administration fee of IDR 500,000 (five hundred thousand Indonesian rupiah) applies to author-requested retractions approved by the journal. The fee covers the administrative processing of the retraction and publication of the notice.
The fee does not purchase removal of the article or influence the editorial decision. Payment is not a prerequisite for correcting the scholarly record. A necessary retraction will not be delayed or withheld because of non-payment.
The journal may waive the fee in justified circumstances, including financial hardship. No retraction administration fee will be charged when the retraction results solely from an error by the journal or publisher.
7. Appeals
Authors may submit an appeal supported by evidence or an explanation of a procedural concern. Appeals will be considered by an editor who was not directly involved in the original decision, where possible. An appeal does not automatically suspend a necessary correction or retraction.
